Redheads gather in the Netherlands to break world record
Thousands attended the annual Redhead Days festival in Breda, and 1,672 gingers got together to set the Guinness World Record for the most redheads in one place.


On Sept. 1, 1,672 gingers helped set the Guinness World Record for the most natural redheads in one spot.

Copper-haired attendees of the 2013 Redhead Days festival helped set an impressive world record on Sunday.
Thousands of gingers went to the three-day festival, but when 1,672 of them gathered in the Dutch city of Breda on Sept. 1, they broke the Guinness World Record for the most redheads in one place.

Ronald McDonald, a famous redhead himself, mingled with his fellow flame-haired festival goers and acted as the ambassador of the McDonald-sponsored event.

In honor of the festival, regional airline FlyBe organized a special redheads-only flight from Inverness, Scotland, to Amsterdam. Ginger beer was among the themed refreshments on board.
Redheads are believed to make up a mere 1% of the world's population. Scotland is home to the greatest percentage of natural redheads (13% of the population), followed by Ireland (10%)
