Jon Brookes, drummer of The Charlatans, dead at 44


Jon Brookes, drummer of The Charlatans, expired in a doctor's facility Tuesday, the band said. He was 44. 

Jon Brookes, drummer with British independent rock band The Charlatans, has kicked the bucket. He was 44 and had been treated for cerebrum disease. 

The band said on its site that Brooks expired in a doctor's facility Tuesday. 

Drummer Jon Brookes in September 1990: Brookes was an establishing part of The Charlatans, which came to be connected with the early 1990s "Madchester" scene. 

Lead vocalist Tim Burgess tweeted that the band was "destroyed" by Brookes' demise. 



Brookes was diagnosed with a mind tumor in 2010 in the wake of crumpling onstage throughout a show in Philadelphia. He is made due by a wife and three girls. 

Brookes was an establishing part of the band, which drew on funk, rock and psychedelia and came to be connected with the early 1990s "Madchester" scene. The Charlatans' numerous British hits incorporate "The Only One I Know" and "Can't Get Out of Bed."
